Universal Children Day; A new chapter
On 20th November 2018, the world celebrated Universal Children Day and Kenya was not left behind. INERELA+ Kenya in collaboration with Stop TB Partnership Kenya, World Council of Churches and other partners planned an elaborate event with children at the very centre.
The theme ‘I am a child, Your Future Leader and My Health Matters’ took the persona of a child to show the commitment to include children in the fight to end HIV & TB and as importantly, have their voices heard.
The activities that set the tone for the celebration included; a breakfast meeting with aforementioned stakeholders to give the situational analysis of paediatric TB and HIV in Kenya, a march around BuruBuru area to sensitize the public about Universal Children Day, memorable presentations from children and a letter reading session of letters from children to the government and private sector. In these letters, children urged the decision makers to put all efforts in securing their future.
How? By making sure every child has access to quality healthcare and quality education.
