Engagement of the private sector
In their new global TB strategy, WHO targets to end TB by 2030. The strategy encourages countries to adapt this target. This can only be achieved through innovative strategies. Stop TB has identified the Private sector as one that has been left out in the fight against TB yet it is a potential resource for funding as well one which engages millions of Kenyans that have not been reached with TB messages.
To achieve this, Stop TB has approached different private sector companies to support The End TB strategy within their co competences while others have been requested to integrate TB services within their Health service delivery systems.
- Stop TB has sensitized management of eight flower farms within Thika to establish TB services delivery systems.
- Stop TB together with FKE & NTP are working with Mabati Rolling Mills to create a workplace program which will seek to train peer educators and look into establishing systems where consistent health education messages are given and impact and outcomes documented.
